Movement shapes how we live, work and become.

I explore how we change across borders, through institutions and within the body.

A researcher and strategic advisor working across migration, livelihoods, employment and institutional transformation.

My research explores human trajectories, agency, adaptation and the ways in which people navigate systems and change.

I also explore movement through swimming, and other types of sports, as well embodied yoga practice. I am interested in how the body and mind shape our awareness about our place in the world, and our relationship with others.

Across these different forms of work, I return to the main question:

How do people move, evolve and transform, and how can we contribute to meaningful change?

I’m driven by three main themes:

Mobility

I work at the intersection of migration, labour and socio-economic integration— advising organisations and institutions on how people move across borders and systems, and what they need to reintegrate. My work spans circular mobility, return, entrepreneurship, employment, gender inclusion and post-conflict transformation, always asking what conditions make movement sustainable and dignified.

Embodiment

Rooted in competitive swimming and a lifelong physical practice, I am interested in the intelligence of the body and mind on how they become the main subjects of transformation and alignment — whether through breath or simple physical awareness about the body’s presence across space and time, they become a site of learning and transformation. Drawing on social science, yoga philosophy on mindful movement, I work with what it means to inhabit ourselves fully, and how physical awareness shapes the way we think, adapt and relate.

Transformation

My work is rooted in social impact and meaninful change — for individuals, organisations/institutions and communities. I explore how we develop agency, navigate uncertainty, find purpose and relate to others. Whether in professional or personal life, I explore self-development and transformations that are tied to systemic structures. I ask what it takes to not just adapt, but to truly evolve according to certain causes, values and beliefs.

Mobility

How people move through the space.

Movement is the main entry point into my professional and research work. I explore mobility not only across borders, but through societies, institutions and systems — and how these shape people’s trajectories.

My work spans:

  • Migration and forced displacement

  • Labour mobility

  • Return and reintegration

  • Livelihoods and entrepreneurship

  • Employment

  • Institutions and systems

  • Private-sector engagement

  • Gender and social inclusion

  • Post-conflict transformation

  • Human trajectories and adaptation

I am interested in how people navigate systems and opportunities, adapt to change, build livelihoods and exercise agency, and in how institutions and wider structures enable or constrain these processes.

Embodiment

The hours under water as a swimmer structured my thoughts.

Swimming was not simply an activity I practiced. My history as a competitive swimmer and medalist, shaped my understanding of the body and the mind through discipline, focus, and resilience under water.

It gave me a particular relationship with notions that are key to understanding trajectories that are embedded in moments of transformations by inviting, observing, and exploring :

  • Solitude

  • Repetition

  • Discipline

  • Discomfort

  • Focus

  • Silence

  • Breath

  • Time

  • Creativity and inspiration

I believe we can invite embodied experiences to find moments of transformation and perhaps, alignment, through sport for impact, and yoga.

Transformation

What shapes our ability to move, choose, adapt and become?

Transformation is where my professional work in research and advisory meets my exploration of embodied experience, how we move, physically and emotionally, consciously and unconsciously, and how these movements shape the ways we live, adapt and become.

Across both fields, I am interested in:

  • Resilience

  • Feminism

  • Social Impact

  • Confidence

  • Adaptation

  • Discipline

  • Belonging

  • Identity

  • Uncertainty

  • Becoming

These interests allow me to advocate for causes, values and beliefs shaped by my professional and personal experiences. Here, I write about change from a more personal perspective, grounded in my positionality as a woman, and advocate for various causes, observing, questioning, and exploring the transformations that unfold identities, roles, and spaces.

ABOUT

Researcher, Advisor, Writer, Professor, and Mother

Over the past decade, I have worked across the Middle East, North Africa and Subsaharan Africa with governments, international organisations, development partners, research institutions, NGOs and private-sector actors.

Alongside my professional work, my life has also been shaped by the many changes that come with life, including navigating my position as a woman in today’s society. Movement has become an integral part of how I navigate and make sense of transformations.

Whether through mindful physical practice — from swimming to yoga — or through my work in migration through research and advisory roles. I explore how movement can shape agency, connection, inclusion and opportunity, particularly for people whose lives have been affected by displacement or other types of constraints.

Connecting the thread

How do people, organisations and societies navigate and drive change through movement?

Whether through field research, strategic advisory, writing, or embodied practice, this question runs through my multifaceted work.
